Art Walk 2014
This year Skyline's NAHS had the opportunity to have a booth at the annual Art Walk on Main Street in Longmont on September 20. We decided to hand out buttons and tattoos to people that stop by our booth in addition to the informational flyers we have. We also displayed 2D art at our booth and had the people who came by create chalk art. Then we had the performing artists walk around the art walk wearing paper mache hats the visual artists made. We also had performers singing at the booth and some visual artists creating art live at the booth.
Longmont Art Museum Altar 2014
We were asked by the Longmont Art Museum to create an altar to celebrate Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead. For this project we decided to portray La Calavera since she became an icon for the Holiday thanks to her creator Jose Posada the famous printmaker. The altar will be installed at the museum on Monday September 22 and will be available for viewing from September 26 to November 11.
October Bake Sale
NAHS held a bake sale at parent teacher conferences on Thursday October 16, from 3-5pm in order to raise money for National Art Honor Society and for the Visual and Performing Arts program. We received baked goods to sell from more than just NAHS and VPA students and it was made possible through the support of our National Honor Society. The bake sale was very successful and we hope to have even more fundraisers later this year.
